Celebrating International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day

Hey ladies, it’s International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. What are you doing to celebrate?

Make positive changes to your skin health

Here at Skintrition we are all about empowering you to make positive changes when it comes to skin health so we wanted to tell you a bit about how our lovely hormones contribute and what you can do to make a difference.

The role of oestrogen in skin health

Did you know that oestrogen plays key positive and protective roles when it comes to our skin health. Studies have shown its role in increasing wound healing and many women see improvement in inflammatory skin disorders such as psoriasis during pregnancy. Oestrogen also offers some protection from aging due to UV light.

The effects of menopause

Many skin-aging effects are seen as we come into perimenopause and postmenopausally when both oestrogen and progesterone levels are significantly diminished. The reduced oestrogen levels speed up age-related deterioration leading to thinner skin, an increased number and depth of wrinkles, increased dryness and reduced elasticity.

What we eat

How we eat affects how well our body produces, circulates, breaks down and gets rid of our hormones. Postmenopausally this is true whether you decide to take HRT or not.

Your skin care

Consistency is the key with skin care and persistence with the right ingredients helps to achieve healthy skin. Scaling back on the quantity, and focusing on professional skin care products which, given time, can dramatically change the skin whilst maintaining skin health and protecting its integrity, is the key to a more beautiful complexion.

Personalised approach to nutrition and skin therapy

Our personalised approach brings together nutrition and skin therapy to support hormone balance, overall wellbeing and beautiful skin from the inside and out.
